Family Concert: 'Change the Music!'
Monday June 15th 6.30pm
Ulverston International Music Festival are offering local schools another exciting opportunity to be involved in the next Family Concert as part of this summer's International Music Festival.
We will be offering school choirs the opportunity to perform together with a full orchestra in a special concert about music through the ages.
This is a fun concert for all the family that is aimed at all age groups. It involves local people as part of the orchestra and local schools as part of a choir with other invited guests. Come and learn about music in an interesting and fun way where two actors lead everyone on a journey through a music timeline.
Information for schools:
We would like school choirs to be involved in some of the songs which they will need to learn in advance with their teachers:
- There will be some rhythms to learn
- They will be singing “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” - an unaccompanied folk song which will be led by Anna-Mili (actor / singer)
- They will also sing the echo to “Twist and Shout” - (By the Beatles)- accompanied by a young pop band!
- Finally there will be a huge rendition of a compilation of the songs from “Frozen” - on stage with a full orchestra!
The concert will be on Monday June 15th at 6.30pm and will last about 70 minutes. There will be a rehearsal at the Coronation Hall with Anna-Mili, the pop band and the orchestra from 4.00 - 5.30pm. The supper room upstairs will be available as if children wish to bring a packed tea and put their .
We request that a parent or member of staff is responsible for the children while at the Coro.
We are offering schools a FREE workshop (approx one hour long) to help teach the songs and rhythms that they will be doing with Anna Mili and to give some historical background to the music they will hear in the concert. The workshops will be led by the two actors who are the main parts on the day - Anna-Mili (a young actress and singer) and Julie Jackson, who is a qualified english and drama teacher. Julie runs Flourish, which offers workshops to schools in drama, including Shakespeare. (For more info see http://flourishtuition.moonfruit.com/)
There are a limited amount of workshops spaces available - please click here to contact us if you are a school and interested
This promises to be a fantastic and unique opportunity to hear and see a full orchestra (The Furness Music Centre Orchestra and others who would like to join them) and to be a part of music through the ages, made fun through drama and song.
