About The Festival

The Ulverston International Music Festival was founded in 2003 by internationally acclaimed and locally born pianist Anthony Hewitt. Under his guidance as Director, the Festival has developed from four concerts in its inaugural year to over twenty in our current year.

We have a reputation for presenting musicians of the highest calibre and devising both popular and innovative programmes. The centrepiece of our activity is the June Festival which has expanded in the past few years by using different venues across the town, and now includes a packed schedule of concerts from late-night events and coffee concerts, to lunchtime recitals.

However the Festival does not stop in June. Our Winter Series brightens the dark months with joyous music-making from some of the world's best musicians. It's no surprise that these concerts are often sold out.

Additionally all our performances are integrated with Outreach activities - especially our educational programme which benefits over 1000 children each year in South Lakeland - and through our performances and events in hospices, community centres and residential homes where we offer live music to people with limited access to concerts.
