Arriving by car
Ulverston is 30mins drive from the M6 motorway Junction 36. At the top of the slip road, take the A590 following the signs for Barrow-in-Furness. Continue on the dual carriageway for 2 miles or so, and then take the exit onto the continuation of the A590 towards Barrow-in-Furness. Stay on this road for about 20 miles, up a long steep dual carriageway, by-passing High Newton, down the hill past the Texaco garage on the left through Newby Bridge and Greenodd, and passing the estuary on the left. Shortly after this on the approaches to Ulverston you’ll see the town's Landmark monument -The Hoad - if its not draped in cloud!
